On the morning of October 11, the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Journal of Beijing Jiaotong Universityand the 2025 Academic Exchange Seminar were held in Beijing. The event aimed to celebrate the journal’s 50th anniversary, summarize its experiences, envision its future development, and establish a high-level platform for academic exchange. Nearly 60 experts and scholars from academia and the publishing industry across the country attended the meeting, including the journal’s Editor-in-Chief Yu Zujun, Deputy Editors-in-Chief Wang Hongwei and Cai Xiaopei, as well as members of the editorial board and youth editorial committee.

In his welcome speech, Yu Zujun extended warm congratulations on the journal’s 50th anniversary and expressed gratitude to all who have long supported its development. He emphasized that the university has always placed great importance on the journal’s growth, noting that as a vital window showcasing the academic and research strength of the institution, the journal has made indelible contributions to disciplinary development and talent cultivation. Looking ahead, he stressed that the journal will remain true to its founding mission, uphold high-quality development, and provide stronger academic support for building a world-class university with distinctive characteristics.

Wang Hongwei presided over the anniversary celebration. Cai Xiaopei delivered a work report titled “Five Decades of Perseverance, Forging Excellence for the Future,” providing a comprehensive summary of the journal’s history, development, achievements, and existing challenges. The report objectively analyzed the opportunities and challenges facing the journal, charting a clear path for its future growth.

To honor experts and scholars who have made outstanding contributions to the journal’s development, a grand award ceremony was held, hosted by Li Dewei, Vice Dean of the Research Institute. Awards were presented to recipients of the “Outstanding Organizing Editor,” “Outstanding Reviewer,” and “Outstanding Paper” titles for the years 2022 to 2024. The ceremony not only recognized past achievements but also served as a powerful motivation for continued collaboration and future success.

During the 2025 Academic Exchange Seminar, participants engaged in discussions on the high-quality development of academic journals in the new era. Editors-in-chief shared valuable insights from their practical experiences, covering topics such as journal positioning, institutional reforms, enhancement of international influence, and talent development. Academic experts offered suggestions on focusing on cutting-edge fields, integrating disciplinary development, and expanding communication channels, collectively mapping out a blueprint for the journal’s next phase of growth.

Standing at the new starting point of its 50th anniversary, the Journal of Beijing Jiaotong Universityis set to embark on a new journey. Upholding the university motto of “Knowledge and Action,” it will continue to disseminate high-quality academic achievements, serve national strategic needs, and write a new chapter in the high-quality development of academic journals in the new era.
